Black coffee
The metabolism-boosting activity of coffee is derived from caffeine, a psychoactive central nervous system stimulant that works to improve your body’s metabolic rate.
Caffeine blocks the inhibitory neurotransmitter adenosine and increases the release of neurotransmitters like dopamine and norepinephrine. These neurotransmitters help improve metabolism and release fat from the body.
According to a 1980 study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, after eating a meal, coffee has immediate effects on your metabolism, especially on your fat oxidation.
Further, a 2004 study in the same journal determined that after a 4.5 mg per pound dose of caffeine, the metabolism rate went up by 13 percent.
A 2006 study in the same journal observed that coffee may increase thermogenesis, in part by increasing fat oxidation.
Another 2010 study published in Food Science and Biotechnology explains that caffeine works to break down fat by stimulating the nervous system. This signals fat cells to break down fat.
In a review published in 2011 in Obesity Reviews, researchers examined six such studies and found that caffeine supplementation increases body’s energy expenditure over a period of 24 hours.
As too much caffeine can be counterproductive, it is recommended to drink just 2 to 3 cups of coffee a day.

Green tea
When talking of metabolism boosters, green tea is one of the best superfoods. Loaded with antioxidants and polyphenols, green tea aids in improving your body’s metabolic activity.
A 1999 study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reports that green tea has thermogenic properties and promotes fat oxidation beyond that explained by its caffeine content per se.
Later, a 2010 study published in Physiology & Behavior found green tea to be an effective strategy for weight loss and weight maintenance. The antioxidants in the form of caffeine and catechins in it help increase energy expenditure and counteract the decrease in metabolic rate that is present during weight loss.
The University of Maryland Medical Center recommends drinking 2 to 3 cups of green tea daily to improve the metabolic activity of your body.

Full face clean up at home
Beautiful skin is really hard to maintain especially with with the extra effort you need to put in. No one has the time to visit the salon and pamper your skin, right? What the majority don't realise is that all skin types need a regular face clean up to stay healthy. This simple routine requires a little bit of time to perform but will definitely bring your skin health to a new level!
- Cleansing: Wash your face thoroughly with face wash, and pat the skin dry with a soft towel. Use cold water, and you can always use some cleansing milk on a cotton pad and wipe your face with it in order to unclog your pores and remove any leftover dirt
- Scrubbing: apply a face scrub for a few minutes since it helps eliminate dead skin cells. You can apply a mix of sugar and honey in equal parts to exfoliate your skin naturally. Scrub your face for 5 minutes, and then leave it on for another 3 minutes or so, before you wash it off.
- Face Pack: A moisturising face pack is a must, It makes your skin soft and also improves your skin tone. If you have normal to dry skin and wish to go au naturel, mix sandalwood powder with rosewater and apply the paste on your face till it dries up.
- Toning: Apply a home-made toner on your face, such as cucumber juice and rose water, which helps maintain the pH balance.
- Moisturisation: Finally, apply a nourishing cream on your face and neck. Don't forget to moisturise your face before going to bed. For dry skin, use milder cleansers that are free from alcohol.

- 5-10 drops essential oils.
Recipe:
- Heat the shea butter, coconut oil, and cocoa butter over low heat until melted.
- Remove from heat.
- Add the aloe vera juice, liquid oil, and essential oils and stir to combine well.
- Store in container of your choice. I used small canning jars.
